My third trip to the beautiful Abbot’s Wood today. It’s only 40 mins from Brighton and it’s stunning. We were looking for Pearl Bordered Fritillaries but the weather wasn’t in our favour.

I went looking for roosting butterflies on Whitehawk Hill this evening, so I was really pleased to find this female Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) settling down for the night…
Abbott’s Wood in East Sussex is absolutely beautiful. I spent a couple of hours on Sunday, desperately looking for the Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne).
