I know it’s not sharp, but it turns out it’s really hard to photograph butterfly scales. I found a dead holly blue (Celastrina argiolus) in the garden and I fancied a go at photographic the scales. This is with my 105mm macro lens, Raynox 250 and 3 stacked extension tubes so it’s pretty high magnification. At these kind of mags, light is in short supply and depth of field is very shallow. It’s also insanely hard to focus. Still, I be back for another go I think…
