I was painting the fence in the back garden when I found this chap or chappess. Missing a at least 2 legs, it’s an Araniella species, possibly cucurbitina

Noble falsie

I found a stunning Noble False Widow (Steatoda nobilis) in the shed – a proper beauty. a native of the Canary Islands, it has apparently been in the UK for over 120 years, but it’s reached peak newsworthiness in the last few years…

Our local camera club had a visit from the amazing Richard Peters who gave a really inspiring talk. The first half was everything you’d expect from an award winning wildlife photographer and Nikon ambassador – big cats, wolves & pelicans – all treated with his passion bordering on obsession.
